When People Return: A Story About Trust, Connection and Growth

In the fast-moving world of IT, people naturally explore, grow, and try new environments. Career paths are rarely linear. But every now and then, something meaningful happens. Colleagues who once stepped away, choose to return.

At Present Connection, we believe this says a lot about who we are. Our work is built on long-term partnerships: within our teams and with our clients across Europe. When someone comes back, it’s a sign that these relationships truly matter.

Recently, we spoke with two colleagues: Laimonas (Head of IT Business Development) and Rokas (Developer), who both left and later returned. Their stories are different, but they highlight the same thing: stability, trust, and a culture that people want to be part of.

A reset, a new lens, and a clearer sense of what works

Before becoming our Head of IT Business Development, Laimonas spent over five years building a team for what is now one of our largest clients. The team grew fast – to 25 people. With that came enormous responsibility.

Eventually, the pace took its toll.

“I decided I needed a ‘hard reset’ to understand how good I had it,” Laimonas says. “I realized I would only appreciate what I had once it was gone.”

Stepping away gave him something new. He saw new workflows, different approaches to team management, and how decisions are made elsewhere. Some things inspired him, others helped clarify what he didn’t want to bring back.

After several months, an invitation to return arrived at just the right moment.

“Family first – maybe that’s the best way to say it,” he explains. “The culture here is unique because everything is about humans. People genuinely care for each other. Even top-level managers are interested not just in work, but your well-being.”

This time, he returned with renewed energy and a sharper sense of direction. Building a new team from scratch, he began applying what he learned outside.

“I teach the team not to rush. Clients often want things done quickly, but sometimes it’s worth discussing first and doing it right the first time.”

This mindset translates into something essential: not just delivery, but thoughtful, high-quality delivery.

Curiosity, growth, and choosing the right place to build a career

Rokas’s story starts with different motivation.

“I wanted to try a new environment and work with different projects. Part of it was youthful curiosity,” he shares.

But when the time came to decide what’s next, his choice was clear.

“Present Connection was my first and only option.”

For him, the reason was simple: the people, the opportunities to grow, and the flexibility that allowed him to move in the direction he wanted.

“The decision to return was determined by the people I worked with, the development opportunities, and the flexibility the company offers.”

He came back not only with new technical experience but also a stronger sense of discipline and structure. Now, Rokas is gradually taking on team-lead responsibilities, and his development path aligns fully with his goals.

“We have a clear plan for my financial and technical growth, and I’m slowly being introduced to a team-lead position. It fits my career direction perfectly.”

Stability as a competitive advantage

In an industry where turnover is high, stability is a currency. When employees like Laimonas and Rokas return, it signals that our environment fosters trust, respect, and professional growth. They bring back not just their skills, but a renewed commitment to our core philosophy: we don’t just write code. We build smart solutions that work.

Investing in relationships with employees and clients isn’t just good practice. It’s a competitive advantage. When people grow, return, and stay engaged, everyone benefits. Faster, smarter, and more reliable solutions aren’t just a promise. They’re the natural outcome of a culture built on trust and long-term partnerships.

Laimonas summed it up perfectly:

“It’s not bad to check if the grass is greener on the other side, but it’s important to know where to return.” At Present Connection, we take pride in being that place.
